    A metropolitan city located in the heart of Sichuan province

    Chengdu, referred to as ‘Rong’, is the capital of Sichuan Province. It is located in the western part of the Sichuan Basin and has a resident population of 16 million. It is the technology, business, financial center and communication hub of Southwest China. It is an important mid-western city with the largest number of foreign consulates and the largest number of international routes. It is an important high-tech industrial base, a trade and logistics center and an integrated transportation hub in the country. Welcome!

    8th in China

    Chengdu's total GDP ranks eighth in the country in 2019, achieving a regional GDP of 17 trillion CNY, an increase of 7.8% over the previous year; GDP per capita is 104,180 CNY, an increase of 6.8% from 2018. The Digital Economy Index of Chengdu ranks fifth in the country and first in the west.

    The Western Financial Center

    Chengdu has been a financial center in southwestern China since ancient times, and is the birthplace of 'Jiaozi', the first paper note in human history dated back to the 11th century. There are branches of 16 foreign banks and 17 foreign insurance companies. It is ranked fifth in the financial center index.

    History

    The Land of Heaven

    The name Chengdu is taken from the poems of Emperor of the Zhou Dynasty, which means the last capital of the Shu state. Emperor Shu favored hibiscus flowers and planted trees on the city walls. Therefore, Chengdu is also known as the hibiscus city, referred to as 'Rong'. The discovery of the Jinsha site advanced Chengdu's history to 611 BC.

    Sichuan opera is one of the traditional operas and is popular in eastern and central Sichuan. It is used to reveal the changes in the hearts, thoughts and feelings of characters in the drama. The magic facial makeup performance is the essence.

    Hometown of Giant Pandas

    The Sichuan Basin and the Chengdu Plain is rich in river water, forests and natural resources including bamboos, the favorite of pandas. The panda base is an ecological environment of giant pandas and a variety of rare wild animal breeds.

    Tourism

    Heritage City

    Chengdu is the first batch of national historical and cultural cities and the best tourist city in China. There are 4 World Heritage Sites within a 2-hour driving distance including the Dujiangyan, an ancient irrigation system in 256 BC. Du Fu's Thatched Cottage is the former residence of the great poet Du Fu in the Tang Dynasty. He has lived here for nearly four years and wrote more than 240 poems.

    Very hot Hotpot

    Sichuan cuisine, with a variety of dishes, is known for its good use of hot chilly and its unique cooking methods and strong local flavors. It is one of the four major cuisines in China and welcome internationally. It is famous for hemp, spicy, fresh, and fragrant. Its representative hotpot is boiled soup stew combined with superior seasonings and fresh ingredients.

    World Consumption Center

    Chengdu has the largest number of commercial complexes in the country and the area of shopping malls under construction ranks second in the world. Taikoo Li is an open and block shape shopping area. It combines two-storeyed stand-alone buildings with old alleys and historical constructions, presenting a traditional but modern, and free atmosphere.

    Connections

    Airports: Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport is one of the eight major regional hub airports in China, and an aviation hub and passenger and cargo distribution center in inland China. There are 270 routes to 209 domestic and international cities. Jianyang International Airport is currently under construction, and Chengdu will become China's third city with dual airports.

    Subways: Chengdu Metro currently has 7 lines in total, with a total length of 300 kilometers and 207 stations in operation. The daily passenger volume exceeded 5 million at the end of 2019.

    Highways and railways: There are many highways and high-speed railways intersected in Chengdu, and together build Chengdu into a modern city with convenient transportation.

    Chongqing

    Chongqing is located in southwestern China, upstream of the Yangtze River, and became one of the four major municipalities in China in 1997. Chongqing is surrounded by mountains on all sides, built along the mountain. Because it is located at the edge of the basin and where the two rivers meet, the mist is dim all year round, so it is also known as 'mountain city'.

    Chongqing is about 360 kilometers from Chengdu. You can take train at Chengdu East Station from Chengdu to Chongqing, to be reached in 1.5 hours.

    Guiyang

    Guiyang is the capital of Guizhou Province. It is located in the middle of Guizhou and surrounded by mountains. The climate here is pleasant with a perfect combination of green forests and conformable temperature. In addition, there are attractions such as Qianling Mountain and Qingyan Ancient Town.

    Guiyang is about 650 kilometers away from Chengdu. You can take train at Chengdu East Station from Chengdu to Guiyang in 3.5 hours.

    Xi'an​

    Xi'an was called 'Chang'an' in the ancient times. It is the capital of Shaanxi Province. The city is like a huge museum after the rise and fall of 13 dynasties, including terracotta warriors and horses, one of the eight wonders of the world, the ancient city walls that have experienced the vicissitudes of the sea, and the wild goose pagoda that once contained the Tianzhu scriptures.

    Xi'an is about 730 kilometers away from Chengdu. You can take train at Chengdu East Station from Chengdu to Xi'an in 4 hours.

    By train

    From Chengdu East Railway Station:

    You can take subway Line 2 to TCM Provincial Hospital Station and transfer to Line 4. Get off at SWUFE Station to Guanghua Campus, and get off at Wansheng Station to Liulin Campus.

    From Chengdu North Railway Station:

    You can take subway Line 1 to Luomashi station and transfer to Line 4. Get off at SWUFE Station to Guanghua Campus, and get off at Wansheng Station to Liulin Campus.

     

    By air

    From CTU airport to Liulin Campus:

    Take Line 10 to Taipingyuan Station, transfer to Line 7 Inner-Ring direction to Wenhuagong Station, and transfer to Line 4 to Wansheng Station.

    From CTU airport to Guanghua Campus:

    Take Line 10 to Taipingyuan Station, then transfer to Metro Line 7 Inner-Ring direction to Culture Palace Station.

     

    Self-driving to SWUFE

    From Chengdu downtown to Liulin Campus, Guanghua Avenue and Chengdu-Wenzhou-Qingdao Expressway can be selected. About 40-50 mins.
